市場最關注的問題是，美聯儲何時放慢腳步、並最終停止購買國債。此前短期借貸市場出現資金短缺，導致隔夜利率飆升。
分析師表示，他將仔細聆聽美聯儲如何描述當前的通脹形勢及未來通脹預期，因為美聯儲官員此前表示，有意讓通脹水準運行在高於2%的目標水準上方，儘管目前還未達標。他也尋求，美聯儲能夠就購債計畫給出更多細節。
美聯儲還有望提升超額準備金率5個基點。使用該技術性工具能變相提升聯邦基金利率。目前聯邦基金利率處於基準區間的下沿附近。
分析師指出：“從歷史上看，當聯邦基金利率一直處於靠近上、下邊沿附近5個基點波動時，美聯儲就會作出調整。但市場和公眾似乎已經瞭解到，這些技術性調整並不代表著貨幣政策立場的改變。”
