1月22日，美元指數在沖高後回落，讓黃金的跌勢有所緩和。而特朗普連續抨擊美聯儲政策，中國的新型冠狀病毒疫情也衝擊了消費需求，在一定程度上帶動了避避險買盤。但黃金的反彈動力有限。
1月21日0-24時，中國報告新增新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎確診病例149例，新增死亡3例；除湖北省外，共報告新增疑似病例26例。截止1月21日24時，中國累計報告新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎確診病例440例；除湖北省外，累計報告疑似病例37例。
在週三的國新辦發布會上，中國國家衛健委副主任李斌表示。下一步要嚴防死守，把疫情控制在武漢，並緊盯全國層面上的工作，堅決落實疫情防控措施。
世界衛生組織西太平洋區域辦事處表示，新型冠狀病毒緊急委員會將通過電話會議向總幹事提供建議，說明疫情是否構成突發公共衛生事件，以及應提出哪些建議進行管理。總幹事的決定將在世衛組織網站和新聞發佈會上公佈，新聞發佈會預計於北京時間1月23日淩晨2:00舉行。
美國總統特朗普昨天和今天在達沃斯對美聯儲提出至今最為嚴重的抨擊，稱美聯儲加息犯了大錯，且加息速度過快，而降息速度又過慢，美國的利率應該更低，美聯儲的政策正在阻礙美國經濟。
特朗普多次對強勢美元表達不滿，因強勢美元會降低美國產品在海外的競爭力，壓縮企業獲利空間。面對特朗普近乎咬牙切齒的抨擊辭令，美元多頭表現再激進也很難不有所顧忌。
但美國財政部長努欽週二表示，美國經濟今年的增長速度可能快於許多預測，他指出貿易協議，以及波音737 MAX飛機可能重新投入使用將帶來積極影響。
美國總統特朗普週二對與歐洲的貿易談判表達了謹慎樂觀的態度，但仍將對汽車徵收新關稅的威脅擺在了桌面上。
汽車和汽車零部件是歐洲至關重要的出口產品，汽車業在歐盟雇傭員工數量在各行業中居前列。歐洲龐大的製造業去年陷入衰退，主要原因是汽車出口需求下降，這加大了歐盟官員達成協議的壓力。
不過特朗普也暗示不願走到加關稅哪一步，“如果不得不對歐洲加征汽車關稅，將非常驚訝。”白宮多次推遲決定是否對來自歐洲的汽車和汽車零部件徵收高達25%的關稅，利用這些威脅作為談判的籌碼。
