零售數據報喜，美元創下新高
12月14日，美國零售數據月率好於預期，核心零售數據符合市場預期，美元指數短時內走高，同時刷新了2017年6月以來的最高點。而受到美元波動的影響，現貨黃金短時內出現下跌，並且刷新七個交易日的新低。
具體數據顯示，美國11月零售銷售月率公佈值為0.2%，好於市場此前預期的0.1%；而美國11月核心零售銷售月率顯示為0.2%，與預期相吻合。
美國11月消費者支出似乎動能增強，因家庭購買傢俱、電子產品和一系列其他商品，這可能進一步緩解對經濟大幅放緩的擔憂。占美國經濟三分之二以上的消費者支出在三季度按年率計算增長3.6%。華爾街股市大跌，美國公債收益率曲線部分反轉，引發了對經濟衰退的擔憂。
但週四，在政府數據顯示上周美國申請失業救濟人數降至近49年低點後，對經濟健康狀況的擔憂有所緩解。美國司機股GDP增速預估約為2.4%。
歐盤交易時段，圍繞美元的買盤基調持續升溫，主要是因為法國、歐元區和德國製造業PMI數據疲弱，反應出歐洲央行對經濟前景的擔憂，歐元疲軟是促使美元走強的重要因素。此外日本央行日內收緊購債規模導致日股領跌，從而帶動亞歐股市全線下行，風險厭惡情緒也進一步支持了美元的避險需求，並繼續支持美元指數盤中強勁上揚。
與此同時，在美聯儲2019年加息路徑存在不確定性的背景下，美國國債收益率持續下滑，可能有助於抑制美元後續上漲勢頭。
美元需求溫和回升，對美元計價的大宗商品構成新的下行壓力的關鍵因素之一。金價格延續了本周從5個月高點的回檔位下滑的趨勢，抹去了上周部分漲勢。而全球新一輪避險交易浪潮未能提振黃金的避險需求。
