周一中国官方数据显示，5月进口原油较4月减少约25%。成品油方面，进口减少超过6%，出口减少10%。
数据反映，上月中国炼厂使用更多库存的原油，导致进口原油下降。更多的原油加工厂进行维修也被指造成需求下降。不过，一些交易商称，5月每日到港原油为547万桶，4月为创纪录的737万桶，以到港量计算，5月原油进口较4月骤降26%，这属反常情况。
Mizuho证券能源期货部门董事Bob Yawger表示，“中国炼厂维修期，进口下降4-6%是可以接受的，但跌幅在20%或以上是需求崩溃的迹象。”价格期货集团分析师表示，对于确信布伦特原油期货将升至65美元/桶以上和美国原油升至60美元以上的原油多头而言，中国需求继续大幅减少将导致“游戏格局发生改变”。
布伦特原油收低0.62美元，跌幅1%，报62.69美元/桶。美国原油收跌0.99美元，跌幅1.7%，报58.14美元/桶。
Tyche资本咨询公司管理合伴人Tariq Zahir表示，“如果今日不是美元下跌，油价会跌得更多，因OPEC会议后市场担忧油市供应。”
美元指数下跌1%，使包括原油在内的美元计价商品对欧元和其他货币持有者来说更便宜。
巴克莱在报告中表示，原油供应过剩将可能在今年持续，尽管供应过剩的规模可能会缩小，“看来油市仍会遇到麻烦”。
