7月31日，金價在價格最高紀錄附近徘徊，由於美元近日疲軟，實際利率下跌，加上市場對經濟復蘇的擔憂，市場避險情緒空前高漲，金價有望繼續創下新高。
現貨黃金週五一度漲逾1%，刷新歷史高點至1983.36美元/盎司。渣打銀行分析師Suki Cooper表示：“宏觀環境仍然非常積極，金價繼續跟蹤實際利率…美元的極度疲軟幫助進一步提振了金價。”
美元指數有望創下近10年來最大月度跌幅。資料顯示，受大流行影響，美國經濟在第二季遭受了自大蕭條以來最嚴重萎縮，同時投資者也為美國不確定的政治局勢做準備。
避險黃金今年迄今上漲了近30%，因全球實施低利率且各國央行的廣泛刺激措施增加了對黃金的支撐，黃金被認為是對沖通脹和貨幣貶值的工具。
儘管黃金和白銀漲勢在本周中有所降溫，但多數市場觀察家預測，未來可能還會有更多上漲。兩種金屬今年以來均上漲了約30%，黃金和白銀交易所交易基金持倉量增至創紀錄水準，原因是冠狀病毒大流行推動了避險需求。美聯儲本周再次誓言要使用其所有工具來支持美國經濟，全球各國政府和中央銀行已經釋放出大量刺激措施以支撐經濟增長。
美國銀行全球研究表示：“在政策利率已經處於甚至低於零的情況下，我們認為，對金價的支撐將越來越多地來自通脹攀升。”該行還預計，未來18個月金價將達到每盎司3000美元的水準。
