7月28日，雖然早前金價出現明顯下跌，但在晚間金價出現巨大反彈，雖然短期投資者從近期上漲中獲利了結，讓金價一度下行，但市場走勢動盪，且投資者預測黃金將繼續上漲。美元依舊疲軟，地緣政治局勢加劇等，對金價構成明顯支撐。
連續三個交易日創主力合約收盤歷史新高，且連續兩天收於1900美元/盎司關口上方，盤中一度漲至1974.70美元/盎司。分析師表示，當有強勁動能進場時，就會有很多希望迅速獲利的投機客，基本面並未改變，導致通脹的赤字和低利率仍將存在，所以沒有理由不持有黃金，真的。
分析師表示，短期來看，金價漲勢有些過頭，回調或已經開始。黃金在8個交易日內漲了10%，以任何標準衡量都處於超買狀態。從戰略角度來看，看漲金屬的理由仍未改變，但從近期看來，部分ETF投資者可能會想要獲利了結，這些投資者自金價低於目前高點500美元以來，每個月都在建立頭寸。在短期之後，寬鬆的貨幣將會持續實施，並為黃金提供支撐，但沒有什麼是可以直線上升的，現在看起來是一個盤整的好時機。

美元指數週二從兩年低點反彈，但在美國冠狀病毒病例激增之際，美元指數似乎可能進一步走軟。投資者目前正等待週三為期兩天的美聯儲政策會議結果，此前美聯儲宣佈將多項貸款工具延長至年底。有人預計，全球抗擊大流行病遭遇挫折將促使美聯儲主席鮑威爾表示利率會更長時間保持接近零的水準。
