7月29日，美聯儲公佈7月利率決議，維持當前利率不變，符合市場預期，但美聯儲繼續強調病毒對經濟的影響，美聯儲措辭偏鴿派，決議公佈後，現貨黃金短線上漲十美元，維持當前漲勢。
在美聯儲公佈的政策聲明中，美聯儲強調了病毒發展對經濟的影響，同時指出了當前美國經濟需求疲軟、通脹低迷，並強調將“以當前的速度”增加資產規模。
美聯儲將貼現利率維持在0.25%不變，將超額準備金率（IOER）維持在0.1%不變。委員們一致同意此次的利率決定。（與上次會議一致）延長央行回購和掉期額度至明年3月31日。美聯儲著重強調病毒構成相當大的風險，將維持利率在當前水準，直到美聯儲確信經濟已經度過了最近的危機，並走上實現最大就業和價格穩定目標的軌道。
美聯儲週二表示，將把七個緊急貸款計畫的實施時間延長三個月，至12月31日，以在冠狀病毒大流行期間支持經濟活動。
近期，美國疫情形勢愈發嚴峻，令經濟復蘇前景蒙上陰影。美國財政部長姆努欽在另一份聲明中稱，他已批准延長三個月的決定。
截至6月29日，美聯儲為應對疫情重啟而啟動的9個緊急貸款工具均悉數啟動，這些工具可能動用的資金量達到數萬億美元計，但目前為止只有大約1000億美元未償還貸款，部分原因是傳統資金拆出方重返短期市場，降低了對美聯儲流動性的需求。
美聯儲理事會共7人，目前有5人，其中美聯儲主席鮑威爾、美聯儲副主席克拉裏達、美聯儲監管事務副主席誇爾斯和美聯儲理事鮑曼等4人均由美國總統特朗普提名，尚有2個名額空缺。
市場預計鮑威爾將繼續警示經濟前景依然嚴峻。時隔六周，美聯儲召開新一期FOMC會議時，美國新冠疫情的發展出現了較大的變化。6月會議時，美國新增確診人數已趨於平穩；而此時，美國出現了第二波疫情高峰，令本就脆弱的經濟復蘇再遭重創。
