據央視新聞報導，在美國多州已經陸續重啟後，多地新冠肺炎感染病例仍然持續增加。過去一周內，根據美國約翰斯·霍普金斯大學的統計資料，美國有8個州的日均新冠肺炎新增病例都創下新高。
紐約時間下午1:30，紐約商品交易所8月交割的黃金期貨上漲1.3%，結算價每盎司1,753美元。美國南部和西南部的新增病例數持續上升，住院率也增加…這引發了人們對政府宣佈新一輪停擺措施的擔憂，這對黃金有利。
今年迄今，金價已上漲約15%，受經濟放緩憂慮引發的避險需求支撐，且政府和央行出臺史無前例的財政和貨幣支持，推低公債收益率，也引發了對通脹的擔憂。
高盛週五在研究報告中稱，儘管自3月反彈以來黃金一直在努力尋找方向，但仍有進一步上漲的潛力，金價在未來12個月可能達到每盎司2000美元；該行先前的預測是1800美元。
