6月12日，現貨黃金出現小幅度上漲，由於之前美元指數大幅走高，漲幅有所減少，同時市場買入黃金以求避險，加上目前市場擔憂可能會出現新一輪的病毒感染,加上美聯儲對經濟前景的悲觀情緒，讓黃金受到較大關注。
人們對經濟復蘇的持續擔憂以及美國第二波冠狀病毒潮跡象助長了對避險資產的需求。OANDA高級市場分析師Edward Moya稱，“儘管今早股市試探性反彈，但我們看到金價攀升，因機構交易商仍有穩定的避險需求。”
美國十幾個州最近新冠病例激增在一定程度上反映了檢測力度加大，但其中許多州的住院人數也在上升。美國主要股指有所反彈，週四暴跌，因美聯儲有關經濟復蘇之路將漫長的預期讓投資者對經濟快速反彈的押注蒙陰。
美聯儲在半年度報告中指出，新冠疫情和經濟前景存在不確定性，短期來看，疫情相關風險及美國和全球經濟面臨的風險仍然很高，各類資料表明小企業在疫情危機中的健康狀況令人警惕。
