週三，一項衡量全球股市的指標上漲，歐元兌美元上漲，因放鬆封鎖和將出臺更多貨幣刺激措施的希望提振了投資者信心。美國5月民間就業崗位降幅小於預期，暗示隨著企業復工複產，裁員情況正在緩和；美國供應管理協會(ISM)公佈的數據顯示，服務業採購經理人指數(PMI)在5月脫離11年低點，這也提振了市場人氣。
分析師表示，週三黃金價格就像紙牌屋一樣崩潰，投資者忽視了美國各地爆發的動亂，而將重心集中在圍繞央行干預和經濟復蘇的希望上；由於市場情緒的改善，黃金期貨價格短期內可能進一步走軟，首先可能回撤到1680美元水準。若跌破這一支撐位，金價可能會繼續下跌至4月中旬以來的最高水準1665美元。
美股週三尾盤維持漲勢，道指漲超500點，站上26200點；納斯達克100指數上漲0.6％，超越歷史最高收盤水準；截止目前，標普500指數已從近期低點反彈逾40%，納指距其2月19日創造的歷史最高紀錄9838.37點差距不到2%。分析認為，市場對於經濟活動重啟的樂觀預期繼續支撐風險偏好，股市短期繼續看漲，這令避險黃金失去了吸引力，
黃金市場的下一波漲勢即將到來。Streible指出，股市的動能阻礙了黃金上行，但市場對股市的熱衷是有問題的。美聯儲在支撐著美股以及其他資產。這讓投資者們擔心自己錯過這波行情。但現實而言，美股這些企業的營收會繼續下降，最終估值會回到比較安全的水準，也就會影響美股的表現。
為應對疫情，美聯儲降息並且開啟無限QE，而近期市場對美國進入負利率狀態的預期在增加。美聯儲不太可能採用負利率，但市場或許會一直有這樣的預期，眼下這個環境對黃金是非常利好的，其將進入長期牛市。
