5月18日，現貨黃金從日內較高位出現明顯巨大回落，由於出現了圍繞病毒疫苗的試驗效果樂觀，帶動了全球股市以及油價的飆升，市場對黃金的避險需求明顯減少，同時美債收益率的巨大飆升也壓制了金價大的漲勢。
其實驗性疫苗在早期試驗中顯示出令人鼓舞的結果，投資者也寄望於更多的刺激措施將美國經濟從衰退中拯救出來。美聯儲主席鮑威爾稱，美國經濟復蘇可能要延伸到明年較晚的時候，全面復蘇可能取決於新冠病毒疫苗。
美債收益率週一大幅走高，十年期美債收益率大漲10個基點，刷新逾一個月高位至0.742%；30年期美債收益率飆升至1.449%，觸及三月末以來的最高水準。
貿易問題短時間內難有改善，尤其在疫情影響下，疫情持續時間越長，情緒就越緊張。
分析師表示，金價接下去的目標就是1800美元/盎司整數大關，觸及到該水準將只是時間問題。未來幾個月市場將仍然在下行風險中，避險情緒會進一步上漲。黃金市場上行的阻力要比下行小得多，因此突破1800將只是時間問題，眼下有一系列因素會支撐避險情緒。
