美聯儲最新立場轉向鴿派，可能將債市發出的經濟衰退信號推遲至202年，比市場預測還要再晚一點。同時預測公債收益率曲線倒掛的可能性有所降低，但是收益率曲線倒掛和美國陷入衰退之間有一定的滯後，這次也不例外。
當短期公債收益率高於長期公債時，就被稱為曲線倒掛。自第二次世界大戰以來，幾乎每次經濟衰退之前都曾出現這種市場現象。
美聯儲暗示今年不再加息。雖然美聯儲利率預期的這種突然變化影響了債市的近期走勢，但大多數人認為2-10年期收益率曲線倒掛將在一年內發生。
的確，美國三個月期國庫券和10年期公債收益率曲線已經倒掛。美聯儲密切關注該收益率曲線，市場參與者對此也越來越關注。
回答了另一個問題的受訪者中有近60%的人也預計，美國經濟將在未來兩年內進入衰退，和前次調查結果相差不大，也和外媒近來對分析師的調查基本相符。
分析師稱，市場的反應就好像美聯儲保持耐心以及鴿派立場是衰退的前兆。近來收益率下降將支持經濟，預示未來情況將好轉。
如果收益率曲線倒掛現象持續，並看似可能產生對衰退的擔憂，而且這種擔憂確實變得能夠自我實現，那麼(美聯儲)可能需要考慮其資產負債表計畫是否正以危險的方式拉平收益率曲線。
兩年期美債收益率未來12個月料從目前的約2.30%升至2.55%。10年期美債收益率一年後料從2.48%附近升至2.80%，但遠低於12月調查預估的3.30%。
儘管回答關於倒掛問題的分析師中，約40%預計2-10年期收益率曲線一年後將出現倒掛，但整體預估仍為收益率曲線更為趨陡，而非趨平：預估中值顯示，2-10年期公債收益率之差將從目前的約18個基點擴闊7個基點左右，至25個基點。
儘管10年期德債收益率未來一年料將從目前的負4個基點左右升至40個基點，這仍是自2016年9月的該次調查以來，最低的未來12個月預估數據。
在德債收益率預測經濟前景較低迷的情況下，指標收益率的趨勢傾向上升而非下降，反映出歐洲央行立場更加鴿派，可能阻止經濟持續下滑。
但全球收益率為負值的公債總數觸及2017年9月來最高–達到10萬億美元，對收益率的追求推動投資者投入美債市場，使得美債收益率不會上漲。
