現貨黃金延續反彈走勢，而全球發達國家有望進一步推行財政擴張措施的前景也支撐了黃金的避險魅力。而美元指數則出現了進一步回落，耶倫可能和美國總統特朗普抨擊強勢美元的做法截然不同。
據《華爾街日報》報導，美國財長提名人耶倫將告訴議員們，美國面臨著陷入更長期、更痛苦衰退的風險。但耶倫將確認對市場引導匯率的傳統承諾。這與即將卸任的美國總統特朗普的做法截然相反，特朗普經常抨擊強勢美元。
如果得到參議院的確認，耶倫會接替將於週三卸任的努欽出任美國財長。考慮到耶倫此前在美聯儲就職的經歷，在其任期內美國財政與貨幣政策將相比此前有更好的協調性，但在全球疫後經濟復蘇的期望下，預計美國將保持超寬鬆貨幣政策，美元2021年將恢復跌勢。
歐元區財長週一承諾為其經濟提供持續的財政支持，並討論了新冠疫情後復蘇計畫的設計。歐盟委員會在提交給歐元集團的評估意見中指出，新冠疫情正在加劇歐元區國家宏觀經濟發展的不平衡局面。
在低利率的背景下，歐元區許多成員國政府已經延長了自過去10年歐元區危機以來債務的平均年限，節省了納稅人的資金。不過荷蘭合作銀行的數據顯示，超長債仍只是整個市場的一小部分，去年歐元區成員國政府發債總額估計為1.23萬億歐元，其中超長債約為146億歐元。
英國工業聯盟(CBI)週二表示，隨著英國重新進入封鎖狀態，企業又要適應脫歐後的形勢，企業正在就崗位和投資做出重大決定，他們需要知道自己的財務生命線能否延續，不能等到財政大臣蘇納克公佈3月預算時才知道能否獲得更多疫情援助。
在上周英國央行行長貝利發表講話後，市場已經調降了英國央行實施負利率政策的預期，貨幣政策進一步寬鬆的空間有限，經濟刺激的重任主要落在財政政策。又由於首相詹森堅持保守黨2019年選舉時作出的宣言，即保證不提高個人及企業收入所得稅、國民保險稅和增值稅等三大稅率，因此蘇納克在 3月3日預算案出臺前幾乎沒有迴旋餘地，最大可能只有繼續增加赤字，這也將提升對抗通脹工具黃金的支持力道。
