7月1日，現貨黃金延續當前上漲趨勢，由於美國疫情病例的增長速度加大，美國兩黨對於疫情的援助措施分歧明顯，但由於美元指數反彈，金價出現一定回落，但地緣政治風險逐步加大，貿易爭端會讓美元流動性變差，美元匯率堅挺。
日內稍晚美國將公佈6月美國供應管理協會(ISM)製造業指數，料顯示6月製造業活動從4月觸及的11年低點持續復蘇。投資者也在等待備受關注的美國6月非農就業數據。
但據統計，美國週二(6月30日)新增的新冠病例增加逾47000人，為疫情開始以來的最大單日新增病例數。專家警告稱，該數字可能很快會翻倍——超過10萬。
美國國家過敏暨傳染病研究所所長福奇對參議院委員會表示，目前全國每日新增病例數在4萬例左右，除非全國一起努力壓制疫情復發，否則可能增加到10萬例，“我們目前顯然尚未完全控制疫情，我非常擔心，因為情況有可能變得很糟糕。”
統計數據顯示，許多美國人申領失業救濟金的規模，比他們在工作中獲得的收入還要高。他說，政府工作重點應該是如何讓人們重返崗位，“我們需要激勵措施，希望所有美國人努力工作。因此，我們的著力點是重建和更新，恢復美國經濟的活力。”
新冠疫情讓美國、加拿大和墨西哥三國都步入嚴重衰退，4月商品貿易降至10年來最低月度水準。三國修訂後的貿易協定於週三生效，原本似乎應該提高北美地區的競爭力。
但在協定生效之際，特朗普政府正在威脅加拿大要對鋁徵收新關稅，而墨西哥一位知名工運人士鋃鐺入獄，更強化了對於勞工改革的疑慮。美國貿易代表萊特希澤已經表示，他會及早且頻繁提出爭議案件。
全球經濟復蘇前景取決於疫情如何演變及其造成的損害有多大，但美、加、墨之間發生爭執的風險正變得越來越大顯然只會進一步加重損害程度。儘管貿易爭端預期給經濟帶來負面影響，但同時也會抽離金融市場的美元流動性，導致美元匯率堅挺。
