10月24日，現貨黃金出現持續攀升，市場關注的歐洲央行利率決議維持政策不變，繼續釋放鴿派基調，同時強調經濟下行風險。同時美國經濟數據以及歐洲製造業數據表現不佳，支撐金價，而且全球經濟放緩預期以及美聯儲下周降息預期也對金價有一定支撐。
德國10月Markit製造業PMI初值41.9，預期42，前值41.7。Markit經濟學家Phil Smith指出，德國10月製造業PMI初值在一定程度上打壓了第四季度製造業恢復的希望，10月的製造業數據顯示出歐元區這個最大經濟體的經濟活動進一步出現萎縮，潛在需求繼續走軟。
與此同時，歐元區勞動力市場也受到了衝擊。有跡象表明，由於產能過剩及未來一年內不確定性的加劇，企業正在削減開支。對於未來前景的樂觀情緒於10月份進一步惡化，降至6年多來最低水準，主要因全球貿易緊張態勢、英國脫歐不確定性較高及全球經濟增速放緩等因素相關。
調查顯示，歐洲央行行長德拉基結束任期時，歐元區的經濟增長幾乎停滯，就業增長放緩，通脹難以升至歐洲央行目標水準，人們對於前景的預期越來越悲觀，這為歐洲央行下一任行長拉加德帶來了較大壓力。
週四紐約時段，歐洲央行行長德拉基在任內最後一次政策講話中，仍放出鴿派基調，著重強調經濟下行風險，這給金價帶來支撐。
稍早前，歐洲央行宣佈歐洲央行維持三大關鍵利率不變，但重申自11月1日起重啟淨資產購買計畫，規模為每月200億歐元。從整體來看，歐洲央行的政策聲明幾無變動。
歐洲央行表示：“如有需要，將繼續購債，將在加息前不久停止購債。預期利率將維持在當前或者更低水準，直至通脹前景穩固轉向接近但低於2%的目標水準。 ”
數據顯示美國耐用品訂單的整體和各分項指標都現出負增長，進一步坐實了美國經濟面臨的投資疲軟困境，而這也強化了觀察人士對於美國經濟失速的預期，使得對下周美聯儲會議決議繼續降息的預期進一步升溫。
儘管商業活動自近期低點有所上升，然而調查數據顯示美國第四季度初的GDP年化增速略低於1.5%，新訂單增長近乎停止，維持在十年來最低水準，這表明接下來幾個月中，經濟增速將傾向於維持在趨勢之下的水準。
