亞洲時段，美國股指期貨小幅走強，澳洲股市錄得7周高點。此前美國延長了對自加拿大、歐盟和墨西哥進口鋼鋁產品徵收關稅的最後期限，並且美國的其他幾個盟友還獲得了永久關稅豁免權。
特朗普3月23日對鋼材進口徵收25%的關稅，並對鋁徵收10%的關稅。特朗普此舉是基於美國1962年出臺的一項法律，允許以“國家安全”為由保護美國鋼鋁製造商。
但加拿大、墨西哥和歐盟都堅持，不會為了獲得美國的永久關稅豁免而接受配額。FX678認為，美國和哪怕最親密的盟友之間關於進口鋼鋁關稅的矛盾還遠未得到全面解決，市場風險情緒可能因此出現反復。
分析師表示：“美元指數近期強勢反彈，給金價施加了相當負面的影響，對此多數交易員表示驚訝。”
儘管美聯儲5月份維穩利率已經為市場共識，但投資者還是希望從政策聲明中獲得有關6月加息的新線索。澳新銀行分析師在研報中稱：“投資者不會輕易放過美聯儲5月政策聲明。”
