在2018年5月美国推出伊核协议后谈判决裂，美国重启对伊朗的经济制裁从而迫使伊朗在原油资源上面的问题让步。但伊朗的态度异常强硬，令特朗普在此前不得不首先作出愿意谈判的姿态，不过伊朗依然不睬不理，令双方陷入困局。目前，美国与伊朗各自正在展现自身在本场对决中的优势。

伊朗在8月6日继续进行军演，军演的位置在国际原油运输要道霍尔木兹海峡。展开大规模海上军演的目的是展示伊朗本身地理上的优势，告诉美国并不惧怕经济制裁的威胁，展现维护自身利益的决心与能力。
美国
美国在8月7日正式重启对伊朗的经济制裁，但本次的制裁未涉及到利益核心原油。美国曾在退出伊核协议时称，呼吁盟友携手抵制伊朗出售的原油已达到完全的经济制裁，但后续欧洲方面各国发声会继续购买伊朗所生产的原油。
后续发展预测
目前从双方亮出的手牌上能感觉到关系逐渐恶化，但重新回到谈判桌上进行沟通机会并非为零。反而，在一轮交锋后试探到对面的态度，能够运用在后续的谈判上。相信在美国实施全面经济制裁的时间前，双方至少能够有一次谈判的机会。
