美國財長耶倫和美聯儲主席鮑威爾共同出席國會聽證會，他們表示，經濟仍有較大困難，推動美元的避險需求，美元指數也創下新高，非美貨幣受挫，而國際油價則出現了巨大跌幅，原油市場復蘇前景灰暗。
美國股市週二急挫，因投資者擔憂基礎設施支出成本，以及美國政府可能加稅來為總統拜登的1.9萬億美元援助計畫買單，他們還擔心市場會進一步下行。道指跌0.94%，標普500跌0.76%，納指跌1.12%。
有關政府基礎設施計畫的發言令擔心股市估值過高的投資者感到不安。 “人們對在可能出現的拋售之前撤出有些許擔憂，任何可能出現這種情況的感覺，都會推動人們在下跌時迅速行動。”
現貨黃金週二下滑0.7%，最低觸及1724.78美元/盎司，美元觸及兩周高位蓋過了美國國債收益率下跌的影響。
原油期貨價格週二跌至2月初以來最低，因歐洲多國加強防疫限制，給原油消費快速復蘇的前景蒙上了陰影。美國原油期貨大跌6.2%，期貨曲線結構也釋放出近期疲軟信號。
布倫特期貨近月合約自1月以來首次較次月合約出現貼水，表明供過於求。美原油期貨同樣出現遠期溢價。
道明證券大宗商品策略主管Bart Melek在報告中表示，“煉油廠還沒有擺脫打擊，加之歐洲重新實行防疫限制，近期需求前景惡化觸發了價格下跌，”“隨著價格在日內跌破50日移動均線，技術交易員很可能使WTI價格進一步走低”。
