3月24日，現貨黃金出現小幅度上漲，雖然美國國債收益率以及美元指數都有上漲趨勢，但是美聯儲主席鮑威爾再次表示當前將利率維持在近零水準，這一講話後，黃金的避險價值受到支撐，價格出現上漲。
結束了連續兩天的跌勢，一方是因為有跡象表明美國國債收益率的上升可能正在減弱，另外令人失望的美國經濟報告提振了黃金作為避險資產的吸引力。美國官方數據顯示，耐用品訂單出現接近一年以來首次下滑。
美國5年期國債拍賣顯示需求有所增加，此外基準美國國債收益率變動不大，且自週一開盤以來下降約10個基點。BMO Capital Markets金屬衍生品交易主管Tai Wong指出，5年期國債拍賣結果不錯使得債券得到良好支撐，收益率維持在近期低位，這對黃金有所幫助。另外，耐用品訂單數據也提振了黃金的吸引力。
分析師表示，美聯儲表示，儘管我們可能會看到通脹攀升，但他們不會進行干預，這最終意味著我們可能會看到通脹急升，而美聯儲仍將觀望……這些因素正在幫助金價上漲。
鮑威爾週二對議員們表示，我們確實預計通脹將在今年上升，但“既不會幅度特別大，也不會持久”。
直到今年晚些時候，金價都不太可能突破每盎司1700-1750美元的區間，屆時增長和通脹可能停滯，投資者可能會青睞追隨通脹上升的資產和大宗商品。
