12月29日，现货黄金在1880关口附近震荡，由于美国追加刺激措施提振了黄金的吸引力，拖累美元的上涨力度，但目前参议院共和党阻挠了补贴法案的实施，加上投资者对于风险较高的产品有更大兴趣，抑制了金价上涨。
尽管缺乏强劲的后续买盘，金价在欧洲市场早盘略微抬高。在昨日触及1900美元高位后，金价开始下滑，但在周二重新获得正面牵引力，并受到了美国刺激措施取得进展的支撑。此前周一美国众议院投票支持每人发放支票的金额从600美元提升至2000美元。另一方面，这一消息拖累了主导金价的美元。从目前全球股市普遍看涨的情绪可以明显看出，投资者对风险较高资产的兴趣有所增加。风险流动削弱了对传统避险资产的需求，并抑制了金价的进一步上涨，至少目前如此。
美国参议院民主党人试图将新一轮纾困法案中对个人的直接补贴金额从600美元提高至2000美元，而共和党不顾特朗普最初提出了这项要求，执意阻挠民主党的努力。参议院民主党（少数党）领袖舒默提出批准该法案的动议，遭参议院共和党（多数党）领袖麦康奈尔否决。
尽管特朗普大力推动，但把这项支出提高到4640亿美元的想法在共和党议员中并不受欢迎，他们日益关心国家债务上升问题。周一，仅44名共和党人加入到231名民主党人的行列，通过将个人补贴金额提高至2000美元的法案。在参议院，只有少数共和党人公开声援该法案。
美元的疲软表现为黄金提供了支撑，但如果美国进一步刺激的话，黄金市场的支撑将很难持续，市场基本上已经计入了影响，美元也可能因此走高。美联储进一步采取措施的空间已经不大了，因此黄金上行有压力。
