默克尔力挺英国脱欧

欧盟正在寻求英国更明确的承诺，即英国能解决与脱欧有关的金融义务。10月20日，欧盟各国领导人将为英国设定12月的目标，从而改善其脱欧提出的条件。但是，他们也会为下一阶段的谈判做准备。

特雷莎·梅在早些时候的一份公开信中表示，她可以向所有在英国合法生活的欧洲公民保证，英国正式离开欧盟后，他们可以继续留在英国。谈判小组正试图结束关于公民权利、爱尔兰边界和英国脱欧分手费相关的谈判，这第三个领域想取得进展还有很长的路要走。
