印度置换黄金提升质量

印度央行7月4日宣布，正在从多家银行寻求配额，将央行保险库中的黄金置换为国际标准的黄金，以期改善对央行储备的管理。
印度央行称，这一操作“将会标准化印度央行在印度境内保留的可用黄金储备，使其符合国际标准”，操作中得到的黄金将会送往央行的海外托管机构英国央行进行保管。
将黄金储备保管在英国使得印度央行在有必要捍卫其货币时有更大的灵活性动用这些黄金。作为对抗一次金融危机的系列紧急措施的一部分，印度央行在1991年向英国央行运送了一批黄金。
2013年在新央行行长领导下，印度央行一直致力于现代化其市场操作方式，并改善对黄金以及外汇储备的管理方式。印度的黄金和外汇储备总量大约价值3150亿美元。
根据行业组织世界黄金协会的估算，印度持有557吨黄金，是世界第11大储备量。以当前市价计算，这些黄金价值接近240亿美元。目前尚无法确认印度央行会将其中的多少进行置换。印度央行在回应路透社的询问时说，“印度央行将在与政府协商的前提下，在未来决定将会被置换的黄金的数量，置换率以及时机等因素。”
而据媒体早前报道称，印度央行正在向各银行咨询一个计划，将把1947年独立之前就保管在央行保险库中，相对不太纯的黄金中的一部分置换为国际标准的金条。
市场参与者表示，央行很有可能将这批旧的黄金在印度本地市场出售。这样的做法将有在不影响经常账的情况下提高国内黄金供应的好处——由于伊拉克冲突的爆发导致进口原油价格的上涨，印度的经常账表现正面临新的压力。
印度的经常账赤字在2012/13财年时候曾一度达到纪录高位的，相当于国内生产总值4.8%的程度。
