11月4日，现货黄金承压，美元指数出现剧烈震荡，由于总统大选情况异常胶着，但可能肯定，不可能出现民主党压倒性胜利的局面。但无论谁当选，美国的债务规模都是市场的焦点，同时美元和其他主要货币相比不在具有息差优势。
在数以百万计的选票仍未清点的情况下，特朗普总统周三就声称自己已经赢得了美国大选。稍早民主党总统候选人拜登表示有信心赢得胜利。大选情势胶着，最终结果可能要等几个州完成计票才能知道，而这可能需要等上几个小时甚至几天时间。
美国所有州的选举法都要求所有选票得到统计。今年有待统计的选票比去年更多，因为疫情民众提前进行了投票，要么邮寄选票，要么亲自去投票站。
但是为了获得参议院多数席位，需要取胜的数个竞争激烈的州，却败下阵来。众议院方面，民主党似乎会维持多数地位，但幅度可能缩小，尽管大选前预计该党可进一步获得至少15个席位。
美国总统特朗普在没有证据的情况下，宣称美国总统选举有欺诈行为，对此，民主党籍的宾州州长Tom Wolf周三表示，特朗普的说法是基于党派立场的攻诘，并称宾州正在努力统计超过100万张邮寄投票。
Wolf在推特发文称：“让我们把话说清楚：这是出于党派立场对宾州选举、我们的选票、及民主的攻击，本州各郡正在不辞辛苦地努力尽可能快速且正确处理选票。宾州会有一场公正选举，我们会计算每张选票。”
