11月5日，现货黄金突破关口创下新高，美元指数创新近日新低，美国大选结果正欲出炉，但市场也会迎来很长一段时间的不确定性，因为特朗普在几个州发动攻势，无论谁获胜，都会面临巨大的经济挑战。
随着美国大选进入最后揭晓阶段，投资者解除一些美元多头，美指录得10月27日以来新低至92.812。分析师称，对于拜登胜选将采取更温和贸易政策的预期，可能会削弱美元兑主要贸易伙伴国的汇率，并预计拜登将支持更大规模的新冠病毒肺炎救助计划，进而支撑金价。
民主党候选人拜登料将击败现任总统特朗普，此前他赢下密西根和威斯康星两个关键州，但民主党未能如预期那样掌控国会，参议院控制权留在共和党手中的可能性越来越大，令出台刺激政策的难度也有所增大。
共和党掌控参议院将能阻止拜登政府调升企业税，不过政府的权力分化也使得出台大规模刺激方案的可能性降低，加上特朗普有关计票的指责和持续不确定性将在短期内限制美元跌势。
全美商业组织呼吁总统特朗普、民主党候选人拜登、媒体与所有美国民众给这场差距微小的总统大选多一些时间，让所有有效选票能够完成计票。几个战场州的计票工作仍在继续，这些州将决定民主党总统候选人拜登是否会在目前胜负难分的选举中战胜现任总统特朗普。
特朗普阵营在密歇根州提出诉讼，要求停止计票，并表示将在威斯康星州寻求重新计票。特朗普周三稍早宣称获胜，在没有事实根据的情况下指控选举舞弊，要求暂停计票，连共和党人士也感到诧异，美国商界也为之一惊。
无论拜登还是特朗普最终胜选，都将面临经济方面的巨大挑战。经济衰退一直是可怕的，这使得逾一年的经济产值及逾五年的就业增长化为乌有。现在的劳动力比特朗普上任前一年还要少。
大选之前，不考虑疫情因素，在创造就业和经济管理能力方面，特朗普在民调中一直领先于拜登，这或许是共和党看起来将保住参议院控制权的理由。
目前仍存在两方面利好美元的因素，一是新冠疫情形势不见好转、甚至继续恶化驱动的避险需求，二是美国国会可能继续分裂，使得市场缺乏做空美元的兴趣。
