美联储持续宽松，黄金未来难题多

8月29日，由于市场对全球贸易形势的担忧有所缓解，黄金出现一定走弱。同时美联储主席鲍威尔即将发表重要讲话，很多投资者不敢随意减仓，不过疫情对经济的冲击也限制了金价的跌势。而且市场预计，美联储将继续维持宽松来缓解经济压力。
周二(8月25日)出炉的数据显示，美国8月消费者信心数据降至2014年5月以来最低水平，因担忧新冠疫情导致就业岗位流失，加剧决策者对经济的担忧。
美国经济在2月份陷入衰退，第二季度国内生产总值出现了至少73年来最大幅度的萎缩，目前仍有至少2800万美国人在领取失业救济金。联邦政府提供的每周额外失业补助已削减到300美元。经济学家估计，失业救济减少将使8月零售销售减少约500亿美元，并抑制消费者支出。
当前的不确定性以及对经济成长造成的威胁比以往都更为严重，包括新冠病毒扩散速度会有多快、还会有多少人死于新冠病毒、以及美国国会是否会推出新一轮的刺激、若真有刺激方案规模会有多大等等，这些都促使投资者谨慎出手黄金头寸。
经济前景的不确定性升高，可能增加美联储加强其政策武器库的压力。鲍威尔周四在杰克逊霍尔全球央行年会上料就美联储能够掌控的货币政策给出更清晰路径，并将说明美联储调整货币政策架构的最新进展。投资者将从中判断美联储愿意采取何种措施来保护脆弱的经济复苏。
美联储上周公布的新研究报告显示，随着时间推移，不确定性的冲击接踵而来，结果是一连串冲击对经济前景的打击远比单个冲击对前景的打击要大得多。就如同经济学家承认不确定性对增长构成威胁，换言之，也就是“现有模式低估了不确定性的真实影响。
低通胀和低利率令美联储的常规工具效力不及以往，决策者一直在考虑是否要不时推高通胀来抵消长期通胀低迷的影响，也就是所谓的平均通胀目标。
决策者还希望强化在一段时间内维持低利率的承诺，或在失业率(7月份该数据录得10.2%)降至某个特定水平之前排除加息可能。这些调整将意味着更宽松的货币政策，在其他条件不变的情况下，这应当会提振经济增长。
