3月24日，现货黄金延续当前上涨趋势，由于美联储出炉得巨大经济刺激措施，宣布无限量宽松政策，增加资金当前流动性，缓解美元资金紧张情况，美元指数高位回落。但市场认为黄金短期和长期走向都比较可观，可能有突破千八关口。
美联储周一祭出一系列非常规计划，将首次支持购买企业债券并直接向企业提供贷款，并将“很快”推出一项向中小企业提供信贷的计划，联储还表示，将尽可能扩大资产购买规模.
美联储宣布无限量化宽松的应对措施大胆而迅速，应可有助支持市场运作，纾缓金融业的紧张局势，在控制金融体系风险的同时，为新冠肺炎疫情达到高峰后的经济复苏奠定基础。
美国联邦疾病控制与预防中心(CDC)周一报告，美国有33453例冠状病毒感染病例，较3月20日的统计数字增加了18185例；死亡人数增加了199人，达到400人。美国多个州周一陷入封锁状态。
经济学家估计，美国上周初请失业金人数激增100万人。加州州长上周末表示，仅加州就已有数十万人申请失业保险。部分经济学家认为增幅可能更大，预计下个季度的经济产出降幅将远远超过大衰退期间的创纪录降幅。
英国首相约翰逊周一要求英国人待在家中，以阻止疫情扩散，前所未有地在和平时期对日常生活加以限制。约翰逊此前一直拒绝实施全面封锁，但预期显示卫生系统可能被压垮，他被迫改变策略。
