美国总统特朗普希望在2020年签署另一项贸易协议，如果特朗普能够在本月内访问印度，那和印度就能大概率达成贸易协议，在和印度你侬我侬之际，特朗普却将贸易关税的矛头指向了欧盟。
尽管进行了多次尝试，但两国贸易团队在过去18个月里在华盛顿、新德里和纽约举行的无数次会议上难以取得一致意见，没有取得任何结果。
显然最终达成了共识的贸易协议将成为市场主要焦点。专家们表示，贸易协定的框架，以及能否称之为贸易协定，将取决于美国贸易代表莱特希泽这个星期访问印度的结果。欧亚集团分析师Akhil Bery表示，国防、能源、医疗设备和农业都在讨论之列。
作为购买24架“海鹰”(Seahawk)直升机的交换条件，美国可能会取消对部分美国出口产品的关税。布兰克表示，主要成果可能包括印度宣布购买美国军事硬件，特别是价值26亿美元的24架“海鹰”(MH-60R)直升机。作为回报，美国可能宣布对去年征收关税的2000种产品中的部分产品实行一年(或更长时间)的免税优惠。
美国政府去年5月取消印度的特殊贸易地位后，美国和印度之间的紧张关系加剧。印度的特殊贸易地位使这个盟国可以免税获得价值56亿美元的出口产品。作为回应，印度宣布对包括苹果和杏仁在内的28种美国商品征收报复性关税。
据“德国之声”报道，特朗普指责欧盟对美国商品设置了“难以置信”的壁垒，表示“现在是时候与欧盟严肃谈判了”。德国《焦点》周刊评论称，在美国大选来临之际，欧盟已处于特朗普贸易战的“靶心”。
“德国之声”称，特朗普表示，不想在同一时间和各国进行贸易谈判。在美国和中国达成第一阶段经贸协议，并与加拿大和墨西哥重新谈判敲定北美自贸协定后，这位奉行“美国优先”的总统将贸易战矛头对准欧洲盟友。彭博社此前援引消息人士的话称，如果美方认定欧盟妥协不够，美国贸易代表莱特希泽可能最早本月中旬宣布“轮番报复”措施，定期调整加征关税的欧盟输美商品门类。
