1月21日，現貨黃金出現震盪下行，雖然特朗普在達沃斯論壇上抨擊美聯儲，但目前貿易局勢良好，以及英國硬脫歐情緒緩和的作用下，明顯打壓了黃金市場的避險需求，同時投資者也開始調整黃金多頭頭寸，對金價帶來下行壓力。
有報導稱，法國和美國就數字稅分歧達成休戰，至少暫時避免了圍繞這一問題的貿易戰。美國和法國官員透露，法國總統馬克龍周日致電美國總統特朗普，尋求化解關稅威脅的途徑，同時二人也在著手就數字稅問題磋商一份更廣泛的協議。
馬克龍週一晚間發表推文稱，他與特朗普進行了“非常棒的討論”，“我們將共同努力，達成一項良好的協議，以避免關稅升級。”
據報導，上議院以270票對229票通過由親歐盟的自由民主黨提出的第一項修正案，即在英國脫歐之後，符合條件的歐盟公民將自動取得續留英國的權利，不用再向政府申請。
IMF溫和下調對美國和歐元區2020年經濟增速的預測，對印度的預測則下調逾一個百分點。全球貿易量增速預測從3.2%下調至2.9%，仍遠優於去年1%的增長。
儘管風險有所緩解，但IMF明確表示要擔心的因素還有很多。貿易不確定性仍存，美國和伊朗醞釀中的緊張關係可能打擊石油供應，另外還有天災及社會動盪因素。
分析人士指出，歐洲國家啟動伊核協議爭端解決機制向伊朗施壓，伊朗發出上述警告有擔心失去合法性、希望維持伊核協議、提高反擊效果等多重考慮。儘管伊朗態度強硬，但仍為局勢轉圜留下了一定餘地。
當地時間21日起，美國國會參議院將正式審理美國總統特朗普彈劾案，這也讓驢象兩黨爭論進入白熱化階段。除了在特朗普“是否有罪”的問題上兩黨意見截然相反之外，在是否傳喚白宮前國家安全顧問博爾頓等關鍵人物作證的問題上兩黨也存在分歧。
