美国总统之前发布推文，表示美股正在以创历史高位的表现位美国经济拉开序幕，其颁布的政策让经济走上了前所未有的正轨，同时媒体报道，美国经济时民主党挑战特朗普的绊脚石。
民主党人面临着自1988年总统大选以来再未遇到过的挑战。尽管美国经济形势良好，他们仍然试图说服足够多的美国人将一位共和党人赶出白宫。他们当年失败了，而最近的总统辩论显示，他们目前还没有想出该如何应对本次挑战。
他们的一个策略是指出经济中的具体短板。佛蒙特州参议员Bernie Sanders表示，儿童贫困率“几乎是地球上所有大国中最高的”，过去一年经通胀调整后1.1%的工资增长“不是很好”。前副总统拜登说，“大多数美国人”将“不得不卖东西或借钱”来支付400美元的意外账单。企业家杨安泽表示，经济不景气、财务不安全和学生贷款债务都创下历史新高。
加拿大帝国商业银行预计美元指数将逐步失去动力，2020年第一季度为95.5，第三季度为93.4。在美元第四季度走软之后，预计美国会因对利息的需求改善，尤其对房市的需求增强，而推动明年初经济复苏。而美联储应该会利用好降息工具，继续支撑美元。不过，我行认为2020年全球不确定性的减少或会推翻部分希望依赖美元而获得安全收益的打算。
另外，较早出台的货币刺激的滞后影响及部分贸易文件的逐渐清晰，有望在2020年末改善海外的经济基调，或会因此带动欧元和英镑复苏，而欧元区和日本有利的经常账户平衡同样也令美元承压。
另一方面，通胀水平持续维持在低位。根据克利夫兰联邦储备银行的测算，债券市场对未来十年的年通胀率隐含定价仅为1.71%，因此将黄金视为对冲通胀风险加剧的工具似乎并不会推动金价大幅走高。因此，尽管我们预期黄金在2020年将继续走高，但幅度不会明显高于其上涨年份的年平均涨幅。
