美国财长：弱美元更有利于美国贸易
美国财政部长努钦在周四接受采访时称，美元保持弱势能使美国在贸易中居于有利地位。努钦在采访中称，“很显然，美元短期的问题对经济中不同的部分，既有正面也有负面的影响，很显然在贸易方面，弱势的美元某种程度上对我们更有利。”
强势美元将会提升美国民众的购买力。但美国出口企业的产品价格在全球市场上就会变得更高。美元今年以来一直相当疲弱。衡量一揽子货币的美元指数年内已经下跌了10%。自美国大选以来的跌幅为5.32%。
美国财长努钦在周四一再声称，对他来讲，美元短期的走势并不重要。努钦称，“我的确认为长期来看，美元的强势是储备货币的一种标志，以及人们对美国经济的信心。”
独立的测算则显示，美国政府将在10月份的某个时候触及其法定借款限制。努钦表示哈维救灾将使得国会就债务上限讨价还价的可用时间减少。
“在债务上限何时被触发这个问题上，可能会有几天的影响，但最多也就是几天，我们不得不去找国会，寻求授权加大投入，因为我们必须要投入资金来帮助得州，毫无疑问这很重要。”
努钦还没有通知国会一个最终的日子，说明美国会在何时突破债务上限，通常在距离最后期限已经如此之近的情况下，国会都已经拿到了最终日期估算。
努钦称，“对于我们来说下一个大的现金日很明显就是9月15号。也就是我们拿到公司税的日子，所以预测的日期(到时)会有一些变化.”
投资者越来越担心共和党控制的国会到底能否与民主党合作避免美国出现历史性的违约。一些重要的国债市场行业团队都把前几次债务上限谈判期间制定的计划重新又翻了出来，防备一旦出现无法上调债务上限的情况，希望能降低市场受到的冲击。
现任美联储主席耶伦的任期2月届满。努钦拒绝就下一届美联储领导人选问题置评，称特朗普总统将在年底前作出决定。
努钦称“我参与这个过程，最终总统将在今年晚些时候作出决定”，当被问及是否意味着11月或12月，他说“那由总统决定”。
