2016年初至今金价涨幅超过9%，银价涨幅超过8%，而同一时期，股市下跌，能源市场疲软，这令这两种贵金属成为目前为止表现最好的资产。
上周美国公布了1月份非农就业数据，虽然整体数据低于预期，但失业率低于5%心理分水岭，且薪资增长创下2015年以来最高。数据公布后金价先下跌近20美元后大幅反弹，截至目前黄金交投于1174美元一线。本周黄金涨3.6%，银涨超4%。美股则表现不佳，纳斯达克综合指数收跌3.3%至逾一年收盘低点，生物科技资产领跌；道指收涨210余点至16204点，标普500指数收跌1，85%。美元指数小幅上涨0.48%。
黄金交易公司Gold Core表示，本周金价的上升缘于对美国和全球经济担忧加强。美国和全球经济前景的不确定性导致对金银需求的增加。全球股市暴跌（标普跌6%，DAX跌12%），中国经济增长放缓以及油价的崩跌让投资者对贵金属产生了避险工具的需求。Gold Core还表示，衰退是不可避免的，问题是衰退的严重性和本质。未来将发生是通缩还是滞缩。而考虑到全球经济中的200万亿负债，GoldCore认为通缩是主要风险。
