10月美国成屋销售降幅大于预期，那些价格经历了较大涨幅的地区销量有很大的降幅，但基本趋势显示楼市仍然平稳。
全国房地产经纪人协会11月23日表示，成屋销售下降3.4%，年率为536万户。9月的销售速度是未修订的555万台，是2007年以来第二高。
销量较上年同期增长了3.9%。尽管上个月有所下滑，但销售仍在全年的平均水平之上，并有望实现八年来最好的年销售额。
住房受到强劲劳动力市场的支撑，强劲的就业鼓励年轻人离开父母的家出去成立新的家庭。然而，受持续短缺的房屋供应影响，房价被推高了，并且是首次购房者陷入观望。
上月经济学家预测销售会跌至540万户的速度。在西部销售下降了8.7%和南部的下降了3.2%。据房地产集团的数据，过去这两个地区由于库存紧张而价格大幅上涨。
在中西部销售下滑0.8%，东北部地区销量则持平。
