美联储周二公布的数据显示，美国8月就业市场状况指数（LMCI）为2.1，高于预期的1.5。7月LMCI为1.1。美联储曾表示该指标比非农更好地反映出劳动力市场的真实状况。
就业市场状况指数揭示了美联储对美国就业情况的解读，上周五，美国公布了非农就业报告。美国8月新增非农就业人数17.3万人，大幅低于预期的21.7万，但失业率从5.3%降至5.1%，为2008年4月来最低水平，达到了美联储认为的充分就业水平。
8月非农就业报告中工资数据也有所改善。当月平均每小时工资环比增长0.3%，高于预期以及上月的0.2%，同比增幅为2.2%，略高于预期的2.1%，7月为同比增长2.2%。
美联储将于9月16-17日举行FOMC会议，届时市场将高度关注美联储是否加息。
在7月FOMC声明中美联储表示，美国劳动力市场正在逐步接近充分就业。此前，美联储在声明中称，希望看到劳动力市场的“额外进展”，才会选择加息。而7月的FOMC声明中将这一措辞改为希望看到劳动力市场的“一些进展”。这意味着美联储认为劳动力市场进展表现良好，接近允许美联储采取加息行动的条件。
