美国商务部周三公布的数据显示，美国7月工厂订单经季调后环比增加0.4%，逊于预期的增加0.9%，6月环比数据上修为增加2.2%。美国7月耐用品订单环比上修为增加2.2%。
7月，美国扣除运输的工厂订单环比减少0.6%。工厂订单的低迷表现表明，制造业仍面临能源价格较低，以及强势美元抑制出口的挑战。自2014年6月以来，美元兑主要贸易伙伴国的货币已增长16.8%，这削弱了美国的出口增长，并对跨国公司的利润造成打压。
因工厂订单数据不及预期，巴克莱将美国第三季度GDP增速预期从2.6%下调至2.3%。
另外，美国供应管理协会(ISM)纽约分会周三发布报告称，该国8月份纽约企业活动指数暴跌，创五个月以来的最低水平。这或表明美国三季度经济复苏尚未企稳。
同时公布的数据显示，美国8月ISM纽约企业活动指数跌至51.1，7月为68.8。
