在希腊议会同意接受诸多严苛的条件后，上周五欧元区财长最终同意最多向希腊贷款860亿欧元(955亿美元)。
如果该计划在下周得到德国和其他国家议会的最后批准，则首批260亿欧元援助将在本周三(8月19日)获得ESM的批准。这笔款项中，100亿欧元将被留作用于希腊银行业资本重组，130亿欧元将在本周四(8月20日)转给希腊政府用于偿还即将到期的债务。
在希腊周二与欧盟执委会、欧洲央行和国际货币基金组织(IMF)达成协议后，双方还需要解决一些问题。这些问题包括让IMF继续参与新欧元区计划的监督，推迟响应IMF对减免希腊债务的呼吁直到10月评估完成。
国际货币基金组织（IMF）主席拉加德在声明中表示，IMF认为欧洲需要提供大规模的债务减免，作为对希腊改革的补充，使其财政走上可持续道路。
