印度政府或对黄金进口进行限制

据一名印度财政部的高级官员称，印度政府很快就会发布对黄金进口的新限制措施，这些措施可能包括对一些私人贸易行的限制。今年10月印度进口的黄金大涨至41.8亿美元，使得印度的经常账户赤字问题再度受到关注。
这名财政部的官员周二称：“我们为此工作，要放缓黄金进口的措施基本上准备好了，可能在今天或者明天被宣布。”印度财政部和印度央行的官员们正在考虑，是否要对那些明星贸易行重新进行进口限制，此前在今年，印度放松了对这些商行进口黄金的限制。
在去年，为了控制经常账户赤字，印度政府对进口黄金进行限制，其措施包括提高黄金进口关税至10%并且规定进口黄金中的20%必须用于出口。正是由于对黄金进口的限制，今年第二季度印度的经常账户赤字下降至GDP的1.7%，降幅高达三分之二。
但同时，这也造成了印度黄金走私猖獗的状况，因此在今年5月，印度政府放松那些私人的所谓“明星贸易行”对黄金进口的限制。尽管印度的贸易赤字近期因原油价格下跌而被维持住，但分析师们认为，如果黄金进口继续增加，这样的状况是难以维持下去的。
