上周五美股收跌，标普500指数与道指均蒙受了三周多以来的最大单日跌幅。当天市场对希腊违约的担心情绪抬头，并且中国证券机关机构收紧了股票按金贷款规定、放松了做空规则，使得投资者规避股票等风险资产。
周一中国消息也提振了市场情绪。中国宣布将商业银行需要持有的准备金比例下调了1个百分点，大于通常下调比例，此举将增加大约200亿美元的可用于借贷的资金。此外，中国的证券机关机构周六表示，上周五中国采取的措施目的并不在于冷却证券市场，而是为了维护“市场的健康发展”。
罗素投资公司投资策略师乌特-斯图肯布姆表示，在重要的企业财报使市场关注焦点转回到美国的企业财报上之前，中国消息将继续对美国市场造成影响。本周公布财报的重要公司包括亚马逊、谷歌以及Facebook等。
斯图肯布姆表示，投资者们希望判断企业界是否对美元的汇率影响“过分谨慎”，尤其是谷歌等公司。
