在6月1日的現貨黃金美盤中，美國方面公佈了一系列的市場密切關注的製造業數據，結果該數據結果表現並沒有預期中那麼好，但數據比前值要更好，現貨黃金出現短線下挫，形成了買預期賣事實的行情波動。
具體數據顯示，美國5月ISM製造業PMI實際公佈43.10，預期43.7，前值41.5。其中分項，美國5月ISM製造業就業指數實際公佈32.10，前值27.5。
機構評美國5月ISM製造業PMI指出，美國5月製造業活動脫離11年低位，這是迄今位置最強烈的跡象，表明隨著企業重新開業，經濟衰退最糟糕的時期已經過去，不過由於失業率仍高企，從疫情危機中復蘇可能需要數年時間。
為了應對疫情，美國政府和國會聯手推出高達2.2萬億美元的疫情刺激計畫，包括對普通民眾的直接現金救濟。但是特殊時期的特殊辦法一旦常態化就會導致難以挽回的損失和破壞。
目前雖然美國各州的經濟在逐步復蘇，但由於疫情帶來的經濟衝擊卻仍在持續。美國白宮經濟顧問表示，到11月舉行總統選舉時，失業率仍將處於雙位數，5月份失業率可能進一步攀升到22%至23%，6月份還會繼續上升，此後才會開始下降。
受全球旅行限制措施影響，航空業受到的打擊尤為嚴重。美國航空協會會長介紹，美國航空公司已停飛超過3000架客機，相當於疫情發生之前運營客機數量的一半；即便大幅削減航班，客機上座率仍然很低，平均每個國內航班僅17個乘客，平均每個國際航班僅29個乘客。
受疫情影響，美國各大公司裁員已成常態，此外，疫情也讓不少美國巨頭企業面臨嚴峻的生存危機。美國租車巨頭赫茲公司23日在特拉華州申請破產。自疫情發生以來，業務大幅萎縮讓收入主要來自機場租車的赫茲盈利銳減。為應對巨大經營壓力，赫茲3月份解雇1.2萬名員工，削減90%的新車購置，並停止所有不必要的開支，但這些措施收效甚微。
