5月4日，现货黄金延续上涨趋势，由于特朗普抗疫不力疯狂推脱责任，试图制造新的贸易纷争。但是要经济走出危机需要很长一段时间，企业和个人对资金需求十分强烈，美元指数的反弹也限制了金价的涨势，目前金价在千七关口展开拉锯。
外界批评特朗普早前在阻止疫情蔓延方面行动迟缓，他正寻求通过甩锅中国来转移批评。特朗普近期在回答关税等问题时称，中国可能要为自己应对新冠肺炎疫情的表现负责，他本人正在考虑各种选项。
新冠疫情已导致美国近118万人染病、超过6.8万人病亡。美国总统特朗普周日表示，他目前认为可能会有多达10万美国人死于新冠疫情，死亡病例数已经超过了特朗普之前的预估。
随着新增病例数开始下降或趋平，加上民众急着想要解除限制，全美约有半数的州目前已开始放松封锁，至少部分解封。期待经济复苏的投资者还将关注是否有更多的州宣布逐步重开商业。
抗疫的限制举措已导致美国经济陷入混乱，美国社会严重停摆，包括多数学校停课、许多企业关闭。特朗普很清楚，新冠疫情导致的死亡人数和经济损失，会威胁他在11月大选赢得连任的机会。他亟需撇清自己的责任，但市场显然不得不顾及由此引发的新的不确定性，黄金多头有意找寻新的突破口。
美国劳工部周五将公布4月非农就业报告，届时投资者将看到一项惨不忍睹的经济数据。调查显示，当月非农就业岗位料减少2200万个，这将远高于3月的减少70.1万个。
美联储上周重申，在抗疫期间如有必要将保持低利率，并且继续为整体经济提供万亿美元信贷以维稳经济。但这可能只是苦难的开端，政策必须在如何重启经济、需要甚么健康防护措施继续遏制病毒、如何抵销金融及其他受挫等方面做出关键抉择。
交疏离措施对企业生产率的打击实实在在，信心下降可能阻碍企业投资，而面临较高感染风险的工人们不得不权衡利弊——如何照顾孩子和年迈的父母，因此他们可能会退出劳动力市场，为了维持生计，企业和个人都面临资金压力，美元后市下行空间有限。
