据美国地质勘探局(USGS)估计称，2014年全球黄金(1214.10, -4.50, -0.37%)矿产继续增加，从2800吨增加到2860吨，同比增长2.1%。自1928年起，每年黄金矿产的平均增量为1.6%。
中国是全球最大的黄金生产国，自1982年以来，中国的黄金产量出现了大幅增长。2014年中国的黄金产量将占全球总矿产的15.7%。第二大黄金生产国为澳大利亚，预计2015年黄金产量将达270吨，排名第三的俄罗斯的产量将在245吨。美国是第四大黄金生产国，黄金产量将在211吨。
之后的一些大黄金生产国中，加拿大的黄金产量自2010年开始增长，南非的黄金产量则处在持续下降中。秘鲁的黄金产量也自2005年起处在下降中。
