周二(8月31日)美元指數跌至逾三周低點，投資者關注本周稍晚公布的美國就業數據，以了解美聯儲可能的貨幣政策路徑；紐元和澳元領漲G-10貨幣，挪威克朗下跌。現貨黃金因美元走軟而上揚，尾盤收報1813.62美元/盎司，分析師表示，美聯儲將會扣動扳機，但未來幾個月不會大幅縮減貨幣寬松政策，因此金價最終應該會表現不錯。美油跌超1%，飓風艾達導致美國墨西哥灣附近煉廠關閉，預計需求將下降。

歐洲央行管委預計，將于2022年3月份結束緊急抗疫購債計劃（PEPP）。央行PEPP接近實現其目的。在將PEPP的靈活性朝著正常化實施QE靠攏方面保持謹慎態度。隨著金融條件向好，央行可以放緩PEPP的實施速度。包括歐元區通脹數據在內幾乎所有最新消息都偏上行。央行定向長期再融資操作（TLTROs）存在“嚴重的”扭曲效應。當新冠疫情的影響得到修複時，央行應當結束輔助性的TLTRO。

美國貨幣市場的資金供應過剩，使得投資者向美聯儲一個主要工具存放的資金金額再創新高。紐約聯儲公布的數據顯示，周二美聯儲的隔夜逆回購操作有82個參與者，共向該工具投入1.19萬億美元，這超過了8月25日創下的1.147萬億美元的前一個紀錄高位。法國興業銀行美國利率策略主管Subadra Rajappa表示，驅動因素是“短債供應減少、儲備上升帶來的現金過剩以及超短期債券基金所獲得的資金流入。美聯儲該工具的需求將在哪個水平見頂仍不明朗，這將取決于美國政府解決債務上限的時間。
