8月13日，現貨黃金出現巨大漲幅，分析師表示，目前投資力量正在重新回歸貴金屬市場，美元指數略有下行，仍有部分投資者打算重新進入黃金市場，不過隨著美元指數反彈和10年期美債收益率的攀升，金價漲幅有一定局限。
在經歷了本周劇烈的價格波動後，投資者在權衡金價再創歷史新高的前景，由於對經濟復蘇前景的擔憂持續存在，以及央行和政府暗示將對經濟提供進一步的支持，現貨黃金邁向連續兩天上漲。美聯儲的兩名高級官員週三表示，美國未能控制住冠狀病毒大流行破壞了該國的經濟復蘇，進一步提振了對貴金屬作為避風港資產的支持。
受美國國債收益率上升影響，週二和週三盤初黃金和白銀價格急劇下跌，隨後出現反彈。隨著美元連續第二天下跌，上述兩種金屬均恢復了上升趨勢。在負實際收益率以及龐大經濟刺激措施的幫助下，黃金和白銀仍然在今年表現最好的商品之列。
隨著美元指數大幅反彈，美債收益率連續攀升，現貨黃金一度較日高近回落30美元，下探至1937.83美元/盎司。
分析師表示：“儘管貴金屬價格大幅回落並不意味著漲勢已經結束，但是想要迅速恢復到紀錄高位水準可能並不容易。在2013年價格下跌之後，黃金花了將近7年的時間才恢復到高位。這一次，恢復的速度不會那麼慢，但是也不太可能很快恢復。由於週二的下跌對技術造成了太大破壞，因此黃金仍然不可能實現快速復蘇。展望未來，價格整合期可能會持續幾周。”
但和上一次黃金大跌後相比，這次的主要區別在於宏觀環境，它仍然非常支持較高的黃金和白銀價格。這就是全部，貴金屬得益於實際利率為負，貨幣供應量空前增加以及債務激增。正如美聯儲主席鮑威爾在最近的新聞發佈會上明確指出的那樣，關於加息的辯論很長一段時間都可能不會出現，而加息是七年前引發黃金拋售的因素之一。
