美國5月CPI年率數據不及預期，美聯儲年內降息預期得到進一步的消化，消息公佈後，美元指數出現短線下挫隨後反彈，現貨黃金也在短線上漲後出現回落。目前市場焦點在於美聯儲降息的預期。
週三公佈的美國CPI數據不及預期，具體數據顯示，美國5月未季調CPI年率僅為1.8%，低於預期的1.9%和前值2%，因季調後CPI月率為0.1%，遠低於前值0.3%；5月未季調核心CPI年率也意外不及預期，僅為2%，低於預期的2.1%，因5月未季調核心CPI月和前值持平，未達到預期的0.2%。
分析師認為CPI數據之所以會出現回落主要是因為能源價格正常化的結果，近幾個月能源一直是CPI數據重要的驅動因素之一，隨著近期油價持續走低，一定程度上對美國的通脹造成了部分負面影響。
早在6月4日美聯儲官員布拉德便表示，通脹低於目標水準以及低失業率是美聯儲應該降息的理由，埃文斯也表示低通脹將給予美聯儲在需要時降息的空間。同時此前鮑威爾也表示將對降息持開放態度。因此隨著近期美國經濟數據不佳疊加通脹疲軟加劇，市場對於美聯儲降息的預期正在進一步升溫。
同時美聯儲的數據也下調了美國的通脹預期。紐約聯儲最新調查顯示，美國1年期、3年期通脹預期中值跌至2017年5月以來最低水準。美國1年期通脹預期跌至2.5%，較上月降低0.1個百分點；3年期通脹預期跌至2.6%，較上月降低0.1個百分點。
因美墨貿易緊張局勢，這使得市場擔憂美國經濟或受到負面影響，因此使得美元持續走低。儘管上週末美墨達成了一致，這使得美元一度接近97關口，但是美國總統特朗普10日表示，美國和墨西哥就邊境非法移民問題達成的協議當中，有尚未公開的條款仍待墨立法機構批准。若條款未獲通過，美國將恢復對墨輸美商品加征關稅。這一威脅距離特朗普宣佈與墨方達成協議、美方暫停對墨方商品加征關稅僅3天。這令市場擔憂情緒再起，因美墨貿易緊張局勢或使得美國經濟放緩，進一步損害通脹預期。
其次是特朗普對於美聯儲的干預。美國總統特朗普週二發佈推文稱，美聯儲利率太高了，美國的通貨膨脹非常低，這是一件美好的事情。分析人士認為儘管美聯儲一直頂著特朗普的壓力按兵不動。但是在當前美國經濟疲軟的情況下，美聯儲所受到的政治和市場壓力越來越大，這可能會迫使美聯儲做出讓步。因此如果近期特朗普持續對美聯儲施壓，可能會進一步施壓美元，提振金價。
