7月6日，現貨黃金錄得近三日新高，雖然中國股市出現保障，讓市場對中國經濟反彈的預期有所升溫，也讓投資者買入了更多風險資產，但考慮到全球經濟的緩慢復蘇和新冠疫情的不確定性，美元指數跌出新低。
中國股市暴漲近6%，滬綜指創2018年2月7日以來新高；滬深300指數刷新2015年6月25日以來高位，牽制了金價上漲步伐。德國商業銀行亞洲高級經濟學家周浩表示：“經濟復蘇進程看起來令人振奮，也看起來可能持續下去……至少暫時緩解了投資人的擔憂。”
7月4日美國長週末假期後，市場活動低迷。投資者正等待將在北京時間22點公佈的美國6月ISM非製造業PMI。數據料顯示，美國服務業活動停止萎縮，那將進一步提振經濟從新冠疫情中復蘇的憧憬。
但服務業活動仍遠低於疫情爆發之前的水準。富國證券也強調：“話雖如此，但這並不表示該活動已恢復至’正常’水準，因為要彌補3、4月份的損失，可能需要數月、甚至數年時間的穩定擴張。我們認為，目前最主要的擔心是，由於美國部分地區疫情抬頭，5、6月份的反彈勢頭可能會在7月份停止。”
美國總統特朗普上周六(7月4日)在白宮發表獨立日演說，在沒有提供證據的情況下聲稱，美國99%的新冠肺炎病例“完全無害”。特朗普在講話中還表示，美國將早在2020年結束前就會獲得新冠病毒的疫苗或治療方案。
醫療專家擔心，節日聚會恐導致感染病例進一步激增，可能讓醫院不堪重負。但特朗普發表演說後，政府入夜後在國家廣場(National Mall)舉行了煙火表演，無視華盛頓市長Muriel Bowser發出的警告——大型的慶祝活動違反衛生官員的疫情指南。
但實際上，美國39個州新冠肺炎疫情加劇，給7月4日獨立日慶祝活動蒙上陰影。據統計，僅7月前四天，有15個州公佈新冠肺炎新增病例創紀錄。美國迄今已有近289萬人感染，死亡約13萬人。
經濟學家警告說，儘管放鬆社交疏離政策會帶來就業回升，但這些收益將是短暫的，過早重啟經濟導致疫情反彈，以至於不得不再度限制人們出行，這對企業生產和民眾消費信心回升也是不利的。何況疫情爆發至今，美國仍有近1400萬個就業崗位損失。
