分析指出，貨幣需求是決定印鈔是否會導致通貨膨脹的關鍵因素。當貨幣需求穩定時，央行可以大量印鈔也不會引發失控的通貨膨脹；但當貨幣需求不穩定時，印鈔通常會導致貨幣擠兌和極高的通貨膨脹。
分析指出，當前美元的貨幣需求依然十分旺盛，因此印鈔不太可能導致美國通脹。美聯儲資產負債表的大幅擴張，是貨幣需求激增的結果。面對大規模限制措施及沒有收入的前景，家庭和企業紛紛向銀行貸款，以確保他們能夠獲得在此期間用於支付必需品和運營費用的美元。
市場分析美國4月個人支出資料指出，美國4月個人支出月率錄得-13.6%（紀錄最大降幅），雖然在3月大幅下挫後市場預期4月資料會更糟糕，但實際資料依然令人震驚，反映了商品和服務同步下降。但在個人支出環比大幅下降的同時，收入卻環比激增了10.5%（紀錄最大增幅），這可能反映了大規模的政府轉移支付。如果不確定性迫使人們渴望更多儲蓄，則需關注這一點是否會對消費者支出產生持久影響。
由於加拿大第一季度和3月GDP資料僅涵蓋了封鎖期的開始階段，對於 加元而言沒有多少資訊價值，無法反映出市場的擔憂情緒。
加拿大央行不急於調升利率。加拿大央行行長波洛茲在最近的講話中說，政策框架具足夠靈活性，可容許通脹率更緩慢回升至2%的央行目標。目前創新低的利率水準不太可能馬上回升。
