非農惡化，但不及預期，黃金短線震盪

5月8日晚，美國公佈了4月非農就業資料，資料顯示就業人數大幅降低，急劇惡化，且為1940以來的最高水準，但程度不及預期，現貨黃金短線震盪，而美元指數則出現巨大漲幅。
美國勞工部稱，所有主要行業的就業人數出現大幅減少，其中休閒娛樂和酒店業的就業崗位流失尤其嚴重。
疫情導致的停工逆轉了10年來勞動力市場的增長勢頭；美國4月份裁員人數達到前所未有的2050萬，推動失業率升至大蕭條以來的最高水準，失業率預計將攀升至16%，本月還將進一步攀升，因為自4月中旬該報告公佈以來，又有數百萬人申請失業救濟。
申請失業金的資格範圍也大幅擴張，契約勞工和散工等情況也包括在內，大量申請表格鋪天蓋地而來，導致地方就業服務部門出現積壓。經濟學家相信，申請失業補助和繼續領取失業金的人數有所低估。
這些數字可能強化分析師的預期，認為經濟從疫情引發的衰退中復蘇的進程將較為緩慢。此前已經公佈的一系列反映消費者支出、企業投資、貿易、生產率和房地產市場的資料均十分疲弱，凸顯出各州和地方政府3月中旬為阻止疫情擴散而採取的封鎖措施所產生的破壞力。
失業率低於市場普遍預期，這可能統計事業的口徑有關，許多暫時失業者並未被統計入官方數字之中。本次就業調查中，因為疫情影響，調查回復率比往常低了13個百分點。如果統計口徑到位，那麼可以發現美國實際失業率要遠高於表面資料所顯示。
美國2年期國債收益率本周創下歷史新低，逼近零值。這表明，金融市場已經破天荒頭地預測，美聯儲可能最終被迫實施負利率政策。儘管美聯儲並未採取負利率政策，也已表示不會實施負利率。
美國總統特朗普週四(5月7日)表示，政府正在考慮推出更多經濟紓困措施，幫助應對新冠疫情大流行造成的經濟影響，新措施可能以行政令的方式推出。他似乎確認，有可能進一步推遲提交2019年聯邦所得稅申報表格的期限。
在被問及是否會加大對個人直接補助的力度時，特朗普回答稱：“可能會有行動。大家正在討論當前的情況。我們會看看形勢進展如何。(有可能發生的最重要的事)是重新開放我們的國家，讓其恢復運轉，讓人民重新獲得這些很棒的工作職位。”
