美國過早復工不可取，黃金繼續創新高

4月22日，現貨黃金市場重新反彈上漲，由於石油價格崩跌，美元指數從高位回落，市場的避險需求明顯增加，同時美國官員稱過早復工可能讓病情更加嚴重，同時歐盟的援助計畫仍有更多爭議，英國人民對就業保障等問題越加悲觀。
布倫特原油錄得1999年3月以來新低至15.98美元/桶；而陷入絕望的生廠商為儘快出售原油不惜承受劇痛，NYMEX原油已在周初跌創史無前例的負價格。各國為抑制新冠疫情蔓延而實施的出行限制措施，導致汽油、柴油等燃料需求急劇下降。
華府方面，參議院週二一致通過一項規模為4840億美元的又一新冠疫情援助法案，以幫助美國經濟和治療新冠患者的醫院，該法案有待眾議院在本周稍晚的最終表決。
動盪的市況令投資者對風險的興趣大幅減弱，美國經濟迎來最終復蘇的腳步遠遠慢于投資者預期，全球股市反彈動能已明顯減弱，黃金等傳統避險工具成為更受青睞的選項。
美國是全球新冠疫情最嚴重的國家，已有逾257萬人感染，近18萬人死亡，並導致全境實施封鎖，學校被關閉，工業和企業停擺。一些州長推進復工心情急切，但衛生官員顯然在該問題上更具發言權，投資者可能強化對現金的執念。
他們料將達成初步協議，利用歐盟下一批長期預算來創造一個復蘇基金(Recovery Fund)，但仍有許多細節存在爭議，意味著料將不會達成最終協議。
政府已經推出一套經濟援助方案，當中包括支付高達80%的薪資成本，藉以減少裁員，並為多達80%的小型企業銀行貸款提供保證。
若出現第二波疫情導致新的封鎖，現在暫時性失業就有可能變為永久失業，企業倒閉迫使家庭成員在哪怕取消封鎖後依舊人心惶惶，消費市場或陷入長期嚴重低迷，這是包括英國在內的發達國家所無法承受的，民眾短期內會加大現金儲備。
