4月6日，現貨黃金刷新近日高點，由於日本政府宣佈很快進入緊急狀態，增加了市場避險需求，加上美國就業市場嚴重縮水，限制了美元的進一步上漲，美國總統特朗普稱，未來的資料將會“十分可怕“。
日本首相安倍晉三領導的政府宣示，將採取涵蓋財政、貨幣、以及稅收等“所有措施”，來應對新型冠狀病毒衍生的不斷加劇的效應，與日本自民党就108萬億日元的經濟刺激方案達成一致意見，預料刺激方案將在週二獲得通過。
目前日本累計感染逾3600人，超過1000例集中在首都東京。儘管與一些歐美國家相比較，日本公共衛生風險還不算太高，但隨著感染病例持續快速增加，日本政府宣佈進入緊急狀態的壓力也越來越大，日元的避險功能近幾天有所消退，投資者傾向選擇黃金避險。
美元人氣受到抑制，因上周一連串資料顯示美國就業崗位大幅減少，初請失業金人數連續兩周創下歷史紀錄，3月非農就業崗位降幅為2009年3月以來最大，因嚴格的抗疫措施損及消費者支出和工廠活動。
新冠肺炎疫情已導致美國近34萬人感染，死亡人數超過9600人。特朗普總統上週末警告稱，未來數日將“非常可怕”。白宮醫療專家預測即便全面實施並且遵守居家令，疫情仍可能導致10萬至24萬美國人死亡。
新冠疫情引發金融市場劇烈動盪，全球經濟陷入衰退幾成定局，引發投資者瘋搶美元資金，從而推升了融資市場上借入美元的成本，美元三個月外匯掉期利差上個月漲至2008年金融危機時期水準。
雖然美聯儲放寬貨幣政策應會阻止美元大漲，但美元今年以來錄得的漲幅在短期內預計將保持完好。美元指數今年累計上漲逾4%，一度逼近2017年錄得的2002年以來高位103.82。
分析師表示：“我們認為美元是安全的避風港，因為它是全球的儲備貨幣，而且還有機會將美國公債作為一種高品質的流動資產持有，其表現一直良好，並且應該會繼續如此。”
