多頭節奏放慢，避險情緒仍然高漲

3月4日，現貨黃金沒有基於擴大當前的上漲趨勢，而美元指數則是連續數個交易日出現下滑，市場仍在判斷美聯儲降息對市場經濟的影響，也激發了市場對全球公共衛生事件的擔憂。其他央行對美聯儲降息並沒有太多的回應。
但美聯儲主席鮑威爾暗示，美國經濟面臨的威脅不會很快減弱。因此降息沒能阻止美股下跌，推動10年期美債收益率跌至紀錄低位元0.904%，進一步降低了美元的吸引力，投資者紛紛買入黃金等傳統避險資產。
在美聯儲宣佈大幅降息50個基點後，美國總統特朗普週二呼籲進一步降息。他長期以來一直對美聯儲進行抨擊，並敦促後者降息。
特朗普發表推文稱：“美聯儲已經降息，但必須進一步放鬆政策，最重要的是，要與其他國家/競爭對手保持一致……終於到了美聯儲走在前面的時候了。要進一步放鬆政策並降息！”
利率期貨市場預計，美聯儲2020年內料累計降息100個基點。歐洲央行下周將目前已經深處-0.5%的存款利率調降10個基點的可能性為90%。
全球增長預期已經處於極低水準(略低於3%)。全球公共衛生事件的嚴重打擊很容易導致全球經濟衰退。美聯儲週二行動發出的明確信號是，可以預期美聯儲將進一步大幅放寬貨幣政策，甚至是量化寬鬆。
全球公共衛生事件已經波及到約80個國家，不少國家已出臺旅行限制和工廠停產等舉措。而印度管制藥品出口的做法料使西方國家面臨新的擔憂，並進一步提升全球經濟陷入經濟衰退的可能性，市場環境對黃金相當友好。
一些專家稱，春季會議改虛擬方式的決定可能永久化，因為這樣可以節省金錢、時間並減少兩家機構的碳足跡。
能源價格長期低迷將對通脹水準產生極大的負面影響，因為包括美聯儲在內的全球主要央行都將通脹形勢視為調整貨幣政策的重要依據之一。各國貨幣決策框架面臨潛在調整的不確定性，也激發了市場的新一輪避險衝動。
