2月14日，現貨黃金圍繞關口窄幅震盪，但市場對公共衛生事件的擔憂，金價仍受到一定的支撐，而且全球的一季度經濟可能出現自2009年以來的首次衰退，加上中東局勢出現惡化，市場對避險資產有持續的關注。
但市場預期，美聯儲將維持低利率，並可能在公共衛生事件損害美國經濟時提供更多寬鬆政策，這有效遏制了黃金價格回檔。
最近幾天，美聯儲官員在全球公共衛生風險高企的背景下，提升了經濟前景面臨的不確定性。美聯儲的一些地區官員曾表示，如果出現這一不良局面，可能會為降息打開大門，以幫助美國經濟繼續前進。
國際貨幣基金組織(IMF)發言人賴斯稱：“有很多不確定性……我們需要保持高度警惕，盡我們所能對此進行監測。”
敘利亞國家電視臺週四表示，該國空防擊落數枚來自以色列的導彈，這些導彈飛越戈蘭高地，在命中敘國首都大馬士革的目標前被擊落。
伊朗伊斯蘭革命衛隊指揮官Hossein Salami週四在官方電視臺直播的現場中稱，如果美國和以色列犯錯，伊朗就準備打擊他們。
伊朗最高領導人哈梅內伊上周表示，伊朗將盡其所能支援巴勒斯坦武裝組織，並敦促巴勒斯坦人對抗美國的巴以和平計畫。
特朗普上臺後退出2015年生效的伊核協議，並且重新封殺伊朗石油出口，美伊關係迅速惡化。包括以色列在內的美國在中東地區的盟國都被伊朗視為攻擊對象。因此，中東局勢呈現出任何新的惡化跡象，都會對黃金避險買盤提供支撐。
